About
National Affirming/PIE Day was co-founded by Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble and Affirming Connections to set aside a special day every year to celebrate the full inclusion of 2SLGBTQIA+ people in faith communities and beyond! This day also reminds and challenges us to continue widening our welcome and using the concepts of PIE Day to embody love and celebrate gender and sexual diversity in all its forms.
Why call it PIE Day?
Pie = Deliciousness!
Pi = Ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter. The result: an infinite number, starting with 3.14.
PIE = One way of measuring how inclusive we are to Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people.
Public. Intentional. Explicit.
Pi Day = March 14: 3.14

Affirm United/S’affirmer Ensemble
Affirm United is a national organization that works for the full inclusion of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities in the United Church of Canada and in society. We draw strength and hope from biblical stories of liberation; from the prophetic call to live justly, love tenderly, and walk humbly with God; and from Jesus’ witness to God’s inclusive love.
We’re a voice and a support for people of all sexual orientations and gender identities, and we help ministries become truly welcoming safer sacred spaces through our Affirming ministries program. Membership and participation are open to people of all gender identities and sexualities.
Affirming Connections
Affirming Connections was created to strengthen and amplify the affirming voice and actions of fully inclusive faith and spiritual communities in Southern Alberta (The Chinook Winds Region), British Columbia (Pacific Mountain Region) and beyond.
Together, we proactively reach out and work alongside allies and individuals in the 2SLGTBQIA+ (Two Spirit, Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, Asexual) community. We hold annual events such as Affirming Leaders Day and Citywide Pride, and provide resourcing for churches, individuals, and families.
We value activism, affirmation, and advocacy.
